After a recommendation from our neighbor we decided to spend our first vacation in Colorado at Blackhawk Lodges. What a great choice! Randy and Teresa were very friendly and accommodating. They made sure that our week long vacation was perfect. The log cabin was very clean and had all the amenities that we needed including great wifi. The location was perfect, just 2 miles from the Rocky Mountain National Park. We highly recommend Blackhawk Lodges for your next stay in Estes Park!

I have been staying here for years. My husband and I got married here off the river in 2012. Randy and Teresa are amazing. They are like family. When we had our daughter in 2013 they welcomed here like a grandchild. We will be staying up there again this year to celebrate 2 years! I also have a girls weekend planned to stay here.

This is a great place for families. Each cabin has a full kitchen and plenty of places to sleep. When we got married we had our families and the wedding party stay in the cabins with us. They loved being close but having their own space at the same time.

This was my third stay at the Blackhawk Lodge. It is in an excellent location, 3 miles from the RMNP entrance and away from the heavy traffic of Estes Park. The setting is beautiful. The owners, Randy and Theresa, are wonderful hosts and are a wealth of information. We rented cabin 7 (our 2nd time in this cabin). It has a comfortable king bed in a loft, full bath and a complete kitchen on the main level. My only concern was going up /down the loft steps to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Otherwise, it is a perfect getaway location. Our “go to” place in Estes Park.

Room Tip: Cabin #7 is across the road from the main lodge area and a little more private.

Treated like family

You’re going to be very well taken care of here: FLUFFY towels, makeup remover, tissues, fully supplied kitchen, large bathroom, beautiful views and wildlife abundant, fireplace AND firewood! LOVE IT!

Had booked a trip for the second week of October 2013. Then the rains came and the Big Thompson and Fall River flooded and Estes was under water. This whole time Randy kept in contact with me updating the conditions. Mountain strong kept the town together, but one thing kept me from going on this vacation, the government shutdown which also included Rocky Mountain National Park. My heart goes out to Estes Park. I am in the process of rebooking with Blackhawk and want to commend Randy and Teresa for the way my reservation was handled. Great people.

OK Finally made it to Estes Park and the Blackhawk Lodges in August 2014. Staying with Randy and Theresa was wonderful!!! They are the best people!! The Log Cabins we stayed in(number7) totally added to our Rocky Mountain experience. Centrally located between RMNP (about 15 minutes) and the town of Estes (about 15 minutes)
What a wonderful vacation!!! I will be going back to the Blackhawk lodges next year!!! Love the place!!!

My wife and I took our first trip to the Rocky Mountains this year. We were fortunate enough to have booked our lodging with Randy and Teresa at Blackhawk Lodges. The environment they create is so warm and welcoming. We absolutely LOVED our cabin and our time there. We plan to visit every year and will not stay anywhere else! Thank you Randy and Teresa!

Randy and Teresa offer unparalleled hospitality. The updated cabins retain their rustic charm and are immaculately maintained and very comfortable. Parking and unloading is easy. The Fall River is accessible to all Blackhawk guests, and has adirondack chairs, tables, and firepits along its banks.

Room Tip: Cabin 2 has a large deck overlooking Fall River. Got a great picture of a red fox by the deck.

The Blackhawk Lodges, close to Rocky Mountain National Park vistas and Estes Park entertainment provided the very home environment we needed for a family reunion for three generations of kids and adults. The fresh updates and amenities accomodated our families in four adjacent cabins. Grandparent, parents and kids from 2 to 10 alike enjoyed the immaculate log cabins, hot tub and management attention to our needs. Great experience!

We stayed here back in the early 1970s on our honeymoon, so were anxious to return again!

Right away, Randy, the manager, was quite helpful in securing a cabin and plenty of firewood (the mountain peaks had just gotten snow). He even hunted up a brochure for us of the lodge from the 1970s era, when it had been known as Water Wheel.

Bed was great, fireplace worked like a charm, and kitchen had everything we needed.

We would highly recommend this cabin/lodge–and it’s worth giving them a call if you cannot get prices on TripAdvisor. Rates are quite reasonable, so would it be worth your time!

We stayed at the #1 ranked motel in Estes the night before moving here, and for the money there is no question Blackhawk Lodge is the place for us.

Things we liked:
– Great value

– Well equipped kitchen (dishes, utensils, etc)
– Friendly and goodhearted innkeepers
– Beautiful area
– Perfect location (halfway between Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park)
– Wildlife in the area
– Clean cabins and facility
– Very comfortable bed
– Petunias lining the window sills
– Old fashioned screen door that lets the breeze come into the cabin
– Cable TV
– Nice riverside chairs
– Comfortable chairs in front of the cabin
– Guests share things (ketchup, mustard, etc) with each other through the innkeepers

If you stay at this place, you won’t regret it. It’s perfect for a couple who want to get away. If you’re like us, you might extend your stay just cause you like it so much. The innkeepers are very nice. Take it easy on them by cleaning up after yourself as much as you can.
